According to the insurance broker, Chile is being a pioneer in electromobility in public transport.
On November 19, 2018, FR Group insurance brokers and the general insurance company Sura delivered the first insurance policy for electric buses. The total amount of assets insured only for electric buses is US$ 60 million, which includes the Metbus fleet (100 buses), the STP fleet (25 buses) and the Vule fleet (75 buses).< /p>
Soon they will also insure the fleet of electric buses that Red Bus will incorporate. The coverages protect the bus against different risk exposures; partial damage, total loss due to malicious acts, accident damage to the transported passenger and damage to third parties that may be affected by accidents.
‘The characteristics and technical peculiarities of these buses generated a new need, which we responded with policies and coverage that go beyond the standard,’ highlights Francisco Rodríguez, general manager of FR Group.
Rodríguez also explains that Chile is being a pioneer in the region, since it is the first country with a relevant fleet of electric buses in public transport. ‘These machines stand out for the high standard of comfort. What’s more, there is no reference in other countries except China,’ he remarks. </ P>
The buses have software that controls speed, cameras to identify blind spots inside the bus, USB charging areas and generate less internal and external noise.</ p>
